The concept is to use a few horses that have been rescued and rehabilitated from neglected and abusive situations; then combine them with women, children and youth who have been neglected, rejected, abused or depressed. Horses can have a calming, therapeutic effect on people. The idea is to bring the hurting into a warm, friendly, non-judgmental environment to help care for these horses.
This idea was first proposed to the church in 2004 and it was warmly received. Various people have been involved since then, working behind the scenes and praying for direction. We completed the fence raising and became foster parents for some rescued horses. This ministry can serve as a wonderful outreach ministry for our church and help many people in a very unique and caring way. The Hoofprints Ministry official kickoff was May 10, 2008.
